Pushkar Fair - An Overview

The laidback and tranquil atmosphere of Rajasthan’s holy town Pushkar wakes up to the high-pitch celebrations of Pushkar Camel Fair in the month of November every year. It is then that the unimaginably huge numbers of top-breed camels and cattle converge at probably the world’s largest animal trade fair. The inhabitants of the desert state find it a golden opportunity to celebrate their engrossing culture and are joined by thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world to make this 5 to 7 day long affair absolutely stunning and extravagant. The backdrop of these larger-than-life celebrations is Pushkar, popularly known as ‘tirth-raaj’ or the ‘king of pilgrimages’. Set around the striking Pushkar Lake and flanked by the handsomely rugged Aravall Hills, it boasts of the world’s only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, who according to Hindu Mythology is the creator of Universe. The intoxicating concoction of spirituality, culture, thrill and sheer pleasure called Pushkar Camel Fair (or Pushkar Fair or Pushkar ka Mela) is ready with its 2015 installation to mesmerize the world once again. Join us to capture the essence of this grand carnival through lens and craft another (may be your first) fabulous photo album with our expert photo mentors.
