One of three Mughal gardens of Kashmir, Chashmashahi is built around a spring by a governor of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan – Ali Mardan. Dubbed as the epitome of exquisiteness, amusement and beauty quotient Chashmashahi garden proposes a dramatic scene of the Dal Lake and the adjoining mountains.
The tastefully contrived garden is positioned in the Zabarwan Range, near Rajbhawan. The beautifully constructed garden has Iranian charm, whose architecture is based on the Persian gardens. Renowned for spring of digestive mineral water inside, this gorgeous Chashmashahi is also famous as ‘The Royal Spring.’ It is the smallest of the three Mughal gardens. This majestic land has three terraces, cascading waterfalls, impressive fountains and a wonderful aqueduct.
There is a strong belief that the spring flowing through the gardens has medicinal properties. This garden is a birthplace of many fruits, flowers and chinar trees, which adds up to the garden’s beauty. Chashmashahi is in close proximity of many other tourist attractions like Shalimar Bagh, Nishant Bagh and Pari Mahal.
