Chowmahalla Palace or Chowmahallat is a complex accommodating four palaces and many royal structures in the city of Hyderabad. Built way back in the 1880s as the royal residence for the Nawabs of Asaf Jahi lineage, it boasts of enthralling architectural wonders surrounded by lavish gardens and lawns and beautiful fountains. The eternal glory of the place helped it earn the UNESCO Asia Pacific Merit award in 2010.

The complex is divided into North and South Courtyards. Four neo-classical style palaces, Afzal Mahal, Aftab Mahal, Mahtab Mahal and Tahniyat Mahal, in the Southern Courtyard are direct from the fairytales and can easily engage your attention for hours. The Northern Courtyard accommodates the inimitable Durbar Hall called Khilwat Mubarak. Marble platform, royal throne and crystal Belgian chandeliers are the key highlights of the hall.

Clock Tower, Council Hall and a library are other worthwhile sections of the palace. Visitors willing to spend the hefty price of INR 2,000 can visit the palace at night when it boasts of majestic beauty under lighted ambiences. Events and celebrations can also be booked at the palace.
