The former royal residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the huge City Palace complex is the pride of the Pink City. Home to many alluring palaces, temples, gardens and other structures, it also houses Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Museum. Showcasing the spectacular blend of the Indian Shilpa Shastra and Rajasthani architecture with Mughal architecture and European style, the palace came into existence from 1729-32.

The complex’s top-notch glory is flaunted by a series of beautiful palaces like Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Bada Mahal and Maharani Palace. From gigantic gates to the fabulous elements like heavy brass doors, marble interiors, exquisite lattice work, ornamental pillars, intricate arches and grills and inlay work, every aspect of these structures leaves the visitors speechless.

Other marvellous structures and sections of the complex include Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-iAam, Sri Govindji Temple, Pitam Niwas Chowk and Jai Niwas Garden. The trip to City Palace also promises exploration of wonderful collections like carpets and embroidered rugs, manuscripts, armours and weapons, palanquins, old carriages, European cabs, huge silver vessels and royal costumes.
