Located in the rugged mountain ranges of Aravalli, Kumbhalgarh Wild Life Sanctuary is named after the massive fort of Kumbhalgarh, which is located nearby. Sprawling over an area of 578 sq. km., this wild life sanctuary is located at an elevation of over 1600 sq. ft. from the sea level and has a rich flora and fauna to its credit.

Kumbhalgarh is famous for horse safari, foot tracking, bird and wild life watching. The wild life includes wolf, sambhar, nilgai, leopards, jackal, chinkara sloth bear and the four horned antelope among many others. The birdwatchers are rest assured of a delightful experience as they can spot many rare and reclusive birds like the grey jungle fowl, red spur owls, parakeets, golden oriole and white breasted kingfisher- to name a few. It is the only place in Rajasthan where you can see wolves in their natural habitat.

The natural beauty and wild life attracts tourists from far and wide. Since it is located at a short distance from Udaipur, the destination is easily accessible (generally by private vehicle or taxis rather than other public transport). The sanctuary offers great views of the massive fort of Kumbhalgarh that dates back to 1443 A.D, which adds up to its dramatic beauty.
