Doused in the beauty of milky white marbles, Karni Devi Temple is positioned in a small and sanctified town of Deshnok. The temple with its glorious silver doors and a gleaming statue of Karni Devi crowned with ‘Mukut’ and holding ‘Trishul,’ astonishes all her devotees. It is believed that Karni Devi, who committed her life in the service of underprivileged people, set the foundation of this small holy town of Deshnok. One of the rare known and witnessed scenes is thousands of rats around the feet of Karni Devi, attracts a number of devotees every year. The temple is a sanctuary to about 20,000 rats. One can also get a glimpse of white rats (considered as auspicious) known as ‘Kaba,’ in the temple. The temple organizes grand festivals twice a year. The colourful festival is followed by a grand fair, which is attended by over thousands of worshippers from across the world.
