About Way to India

An India tour operator, not a booking portal

Since 2010 we have designed and run journeys across India for travellers who want the route thought through properly. Every itinerary we sell is built by our own planners and delivered by a ground network we know by name.

Who we are

Sixteen years of building India itineraries

Way to India began in 2010 with a simple frustration. Travellers were being sold India as a list of hotel nights and car days, with no one taking responsibility for whether the route made sense. A nine hour drive was written as a half day. A temple was placed on a day it stays closed. The traveller found out only after landing.

We built the company the other way round. The route comes first. We start from what you want to see and how much time you have, then work out honestly what fits, what has to wait for the next trip, and what the days will actually feel like on the ground. Hotels and vehicles are chosen to serve that route, not the reverse.

Today that approach sits behind more than 350 curated itineraries covering pilgrimage circuits, heritage routes, hill stations, backwaters, wildlife and the coast. Some are booked as they are. Most are the starting point for a trip we then rebuild around one family.

How we work

Four things happen before you travel

01

We listen first

You tell us who is travelling, how many days you have and what matters most to you, whether that is darshan timings, an easy pace for elders or a honeymoon that is not rushed. Nothing is quoted before we understand the trip.

02

We design the route

Our planners build the day-by-day route themselves. We check real road distances and driving hours, train and flight connections, and the darshan or monument timings for each day, so the itinerary you read is the itinerary that can actually be done.

03

We verify on the ground

Hotels, drivers and guides come from a network we have used and re-used for years. Vehicles carry valid commercial permits and insurance. Where a temple, monument or trek has rules on entry, dress or health, we tell you before you pay.

04

We stay with you on trip

You get a named coordinator for your journey and direct numbers for the ground team in each city. If a train is late or a road is closed, we re-plan the day for you instead of leaving you to sort it out.

What we do best

Where our planning goes deepest

Where we are

Delhi office, pan-India ground network, overseas representatives

Our planning and operations team works from our office in New Delhi. Behind it sits a ground network built up since 2010: transport operators, hotels, homestays and licensed guides across the states we send travellers to. These are people we go back to season after season, which is why we can tell you in advance what a stay is really like rather than reading you the brochure.

For travellers based abroad we have our own representatives in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. If you are an NRI or OCI family planning a trip home, or a first-time visitor to India, you can speak to someone in your own time zone who knows the itinerary and can walk you through it before you commit.

What we will not do

The promises we refuse to make

A travel company can look bigger than it is very easily. It can print awards nobody audited, membership logos it does not hold, and traveller counts nobody can check. We have chosen not to.

What we publish about ourselves is limited to what we can stand behind: the year we started, the itineraries we operate, the network we use and the places our representatives sit. If you ask us for something we cannot deliver well, we will tell you so and suggest what we can do instead. That answer has cost us bookings. It has also brought families back to us for a second and third trip.
