Daman and Diu • 1 monument
Shiva is referred to as the Lord of Ganga and hence is worshipped as Gangeshwar at many places in India. One of the most astounding places is Gangeshwar Temple in Diu, occupying an exciting location near the Arabian Sea. Five Shiva Lingams of different sizes inside this beautiful cave temple are constantly washed by the pleasant sea waves. It appears as if the whole nature is eager to seek blessings from the lord. According to the mythological beliefs, the lingams were established by the five Pandavas during their period of exile. One can also find the beautiful images of Lord Ganesha and other members of Shiva family at the temple. The sight of clean and melodious sea waves impatient to touch the lingams is truly magical. Serene atmosphere and spiritual ambience add to the wonderful experience.
