Mahatma Gandhi Beach and Park, which is situated at Kochupilamoodu, is 2 km. away from the Kollam town. It is an important tourist attraction of the Port city of Kollam in South Kerala. The park, which was set up in 1961 is widely popular among families and holiday groups.The unique location of Kollam beach and its proximity to the backwaters makes it a great holiday spotsuitable for a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. There are many popular attractions nearby including the Marine Aquarium, which is the first of its kind in the state of Kerala. The towering 144 ft. tall light house that is 100 years old is another important landmark near the beach. In addition, you can see the remnants of Portuguese and Dutch forts and ancient churches that date back to the 18th century.
