The quaint shopping town of Lakkar bazaar is well known for its flea markets and buzzing street side shops and stalls that ensure a delightful shopping experience. It is especially well known for woollen knitwear, pashmina shawls, arts and crafts, dry fruits stalls and Kullu shawls wooden furniture and carved items among many others. There are many eateries that serve sumptuous snacks to satiate your hungry cells. The stalls that sell Tibetan carpets, mats and Chinese shoes attract a lot of curious shoppers. Shops that sell hand made shoes, woollen caps and dolls are something unique to Lakkar Bazaar. No matter whether you are looking for a memento or a gift for someone special, these articles would be perfect options. Lakkar Bazaar is famous for wooden toys and walking sticks made by Sikh carpenters from Hoshiarpur who made Shimla their home over a century back. Equally popular among tourists and local populace alike, Lakkar bazaar is also famous for its roller skating rink. Conveniently close to some of the uptown residential localities of Shimla such as Chapslee Estate and Longwood, Lakker Bazar remains busy and crowded all through.

According to the popular legend, Hanuman rested at this place during his expedition for Sanjeevani herb required to save the life of Lakshmana in Ramayana. A Yaksha (celestial being) named Yaaku (after whom the temple is named) found the footprints and idol of Lord Hanuman here and built the temple. Today, hundreds of visitors visit the temple to seek blessings of the lord. One of the most astounding features of the temple is its 108 ft. saffron statue of Lord Hanuman (designed as the world’s tallest statue of the lord) which was installed only a couple of years ago. The temple complex acts as an exciting vantage point, offering marvellous views of Himalayan peaks and valleys. Located on the tallest hill of the region, which usually remains covered with mist, at an altitude of about 2,455 m., the temple has outstandingly tranquil atmosphere to its credit. At night, one can enjoy the stunning views of glittering Hanuman statue from anywhere across the Ridge and the Mall Road. Visitors must be careful about mischievous monkeys, which roam around the temple in huge numbers and are known for snatching just anything. True to the astounding nature of attractions at Munnar, the CSI Christ Church in the region can leave anyone amazed with its charismatic beauty. Built entirely of stones, the church boasts of windows covered with enchanting stained glasses. The church was constructed during the British rule by the English tea planters visiting the region. Today, it stands as a magnificent structure surrounded by incredible natural splendour. The church came into existence in the year 1910, while the adjoining cemetery already existed since 1894. Some of the most alluring highlights in the church’s interior include brass plaques, rosewood pews and a beautiful chandelier. As you reach the place, it becomes irresistible to spend huge amount of time simply admiring the nature’s magnificence all over. The kind of peace and tranquillity this place enjoys is difficult to express in words. Presently, it is the headquarters of Munnar’s CSI Pastorate and is worth visiting during Christmas celebrations.
A colonial building, called Inveram, which graciously stands as a part of Shimla’s rich heritage houses the Himachal State Museum, also known as Shimla State Museum. Established in 1974, the museum houses numerous galleries exhibiting the cultural, historical and archaeological worth of Himachal Pradesh. With more than 9,000 objects on display, it is indeed a must-visit attraction in Shimla. Pre-historic Gallery with stone tools, fossils and fibreglass models of extinct animals and Wood-carving Gallery with inimitable wooden art are two popular attractions of the museum. But, these are not the only highlights as there are sections like Archaeology Gallery with pottery specimen, terracotta items and stone sculptures collected form different parts of the country; Miniature Painting Galleries displaying Pahari and Rajasthan art. One can also explore great collections of coins at Numismatic Gallery and bronze work at Bronze Gallery. Cameras are allowed, but the use of flash is not. The museum can also be explored as a part of the heritage walk which covers other equally charming attractions like Scandal Point, Catholic Church, Kali Bari Temple and Town Hall among many others.
Known to be Nainital’s biggest and throbbing attraction, the Aerial Ropeway is famous as an adventurous and unique way to explore the virgin beauty of the hill station from 2270 mt. above sea level. Starting from Mallital to Sun-View Point, this cable car arrangement has two trolleys to carry passenger from one point to another. Built-up using sophisticated Swiss Technology, the Aerial Ropeway has the capacity of 10+1 or 825 kg. per cabin/car. The cable car takes approximately 151.7 seconds (2 minutes 31 seconds) to finish one way journey. The ride in this cable car offers gorgeous views of snow-decked Himalayan Mountains, eye-shaped Naini Lake and breath-taking view of the entire hill station. The Aerial Ropeway at Nainital is one-of-its-kind in the country. While on the trip to Nainital, you can also explore other wonderful attractions like the Church of St. John, Hanuman Garhi Temple, Naini Lake, The Mall Road, Bohtia Bazar (best for woollen items) and Naini Devi Temple.

Situated at the distance of about 7 km. from the Summer Hill Chowk, the water of the falls is clear, chilled, and rejuvenating. The gushing crystal clear water of the falls aptly paints a beautiful picture of Mother Nature during monsoons. The falls serve as a gentle source of water for the forest area of Shimla. A visit to Chadwick Falls is a treat for nature buffs and adventure enthusiasts. Tourists visiting Chadwick Falls can also tour the nearby temples, which hold a grand fair every year in the month of April.
