About

The Bala Quila is a historic fort in the city of Alwar and is believed to be built before the 16th century. It is at a steep height of 300 meters above Alwar and is enclosed by Bala Quila Forest Reserve. The fort has witnessed many occupants such as the Khanzadas, the Mughals and the Pathans. It was finally conquered by Alwar’s founder Maharana Pratap Singh and is also known as The Alwar Fort. This fort is 5 km. long and within its complex many incredible minarets and mansions can be seen which display Mughal style of architecture. It has mainly six gates surrounded by eight towers to establish its defences. The walls are beautifully crafted with ancient sculptures and scriptures at various points. At present, this fort encompasses Alwar’s Radio Transmission centre and therefore the entry is restrained. The most extraordinary aspect of this fort is the breath-taking view of the Alwar city which one can enjoy from and the glittering lake in the countryside below. This place is a must watch for history lovers and also provides interesting options for a lovely drive or an uphill trek from Chhatri. Warning: For visiting the fort a prior approval by Superintendent of Police, Alwar is mandatory.
