Dedicated to Goddess Chamunda (a form of Goddess Durga), the beautiful Chamunda Devi temple on the bank of River Baner enjoys heart-warming spirituality. Also known as Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham and considered as one of the many abodes of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati, the temple is nestled amidst picturesque mountain peaks of Dhauladhar Range and lavish greenery. Inside the temple is the idol of Goddess Chamunda wrapped in a sacred red cloth. Idols of Lord Hanuman and Bhairava can also be seen. Another highlight of the temple is the stone Shiva Lingam under a huge boulder. Taking a dip in the holy water of temple’s pond is considered auspicious by the devotees. There are many shops selling Prasad (offerings made to the Goddess), religious items, souvenirs and eatables. Breathtaking views of snow-topped mountains and a mystic ambience can spellbind anyone visiting the place.

By air: Gaggal Airport, offering flights to Delhi, is only 22 km. from the temple. You can easily hire a taxi from the airport to cover the remaining journey by road.
By rail: Maranda (about 24 km. away) has the closest narrow gauge railhead, while the nearest broad gauge railhead is at Pathankot (about 97 km. away). Private pre-paid taxis are the best modes to reach the temple from these stations.
By road: Hire a private taxi from Palampur (about 19 km.), Dharamsala (about 26 km.) or from any other nearby destination. The hill journey leading to the temple lets one enjoy beautiful natural vistas and cool breeze.
