A famous birth-watching destination, Kalesar National Park and Sanctuary is one of the excellent spots for bird lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Habitat to the red jungle fowl, the national park and sanctuary is named after the Kalesar (Shiva) Temple positioned in the foot hills of Shiwalik ranges. Wildlife buffs can enjoy the sights of Sambhar, Chital, Goral, Barking Deer and Nilgai (Blue bull) etc. Rich in flora and fauna, Kalesar National Park and Sanctuary have Khair forest, dense Sal forest and spells of grasslands. The sanctuary houses many endangered animals like 19 Panthers, Monitor Lizard, about 16 male and female leopards, and King Cobra. Occasional views of tigers and elephants in the park amuse visitors to the park. Kalesar Forest is probably the only one in Haryana with a natural ‘sal’ tree belt. The main attraction of the park is its 100-year-old colonial dark bungalow that offers a stunning view of the Yamuna River.

By air: Chandigarh Airport (located about 119 km.) is the nearest airport to reach the national park. Regular flights from major cities of the country are available.
By rail: Jagadhri Railway Station (about 39 km.) is the nearest railhead to reach the park and sanctuary. You can hire a cab or take HRTC bus to reach the park.
By road: The road condition is extremely good to reach the national park. NH73A links Yamuna Nagar to Ponta Sahib. It has good road network. You can take a short drive from Yamuna Nagar to the park. HRTC operated buses are also available that take tourists to the park.
