Mahunag Temple, Naldehra

Mahunag Temple is situated in the middle of the famous Naldehra Golf Course, at an elevation of 1830 m. above sea level, on the Shimla-Mandi Highway. Built in the Pahari temple architectural style, it is dedicated to Lord Karna. Devotees seek the blessings of Lord Karna to solve legal matters and family disputes. The temple dates back to 1664 when it was built by Raja ShyamSen, who himself was a great devotee of Lord Karna. The temple remains crowded on weekends and on special days like Sankranti. Legend says that Lord Karna transforms into a bee and rushes to help the devotees in distress. Devotees make silver offerings to the lord as a mark of gratification. The temple offers panoramic views of the Karsog Valley and the Himalayas. Naldhera is also a perfect mountain holiday spot where you can enjoy a tea break at Naldehra Golf Course, which is one of the oldest tee courses in India or enjoy the fun of trekking or mountain climbing. The deodar forests surrounding the area make it a great spot for picnic too.
