Next day morning, set off on a long drive to Hampi – a glorious temple town located in Ballari district in Northern Karnataka. It is a fascinating drive of approximately 8 hours 30 minutes, enjoying the lush beauty and tranquillity via National Highway 167. Upon arrival in Hampi, check into your hotel and the rest of the evening is at your leisure. Hampi – the cultural capital of the Vijayanagara dynasty – is a quaint town in the Indian state of Karnataka, reckoned by tourists for its breathtaking ruins from the past. The erstwhile temple town of the Vijayanagara Empire had some spectacular Hindu shrines, featuring intricate rock carvings and architecture. What remains today are the remnants of these temples dating back to 1500 A.D! Despite the vestiges of the past, the place holds immense spiritual significance, attracting devotees from around the country. Stay overnight at your hotel in Hampi.
After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, escape on a full-day excursion of Hampi. Spread over a sprawling 26 sq. km. area, the primeval ruins are dotted mostly around Hampi Bazaar and River Tungabhadra, offering an enchanting appeal. Our Hampi Tour from Hyderabad comprises of the following: Chandramouliswara Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the ancient temple in Hampi is located near the northern banks of Tungabhadra River on the Rishimukh Island. The Hindu shrine was once an important place of worship and holds its divinity even today. The elaborate stone carvings, colossal ornamental pillars, carved ceiling and massive doorways are the eye-catchy architectural features of the temple. Malyavanta Raghunathswamy Temple: The holy shrine of Malyavanta Raghunathswamy will impress you with its fine relics of art & architecture that date back to the Vijayanagara dynasty. However, key highlight of the temple is its mythical association with the Hindu epic Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Rama and Lakshmana took shelter here during their 14-years of exile. The images of Rama and Lakshmana, in sitting posture, are intricately carved on a huge boulder. Goddess Sita is seen standing next to them, with Hanuman in a kneeling posture. Hazara Rama Temple: Hampi’s famous Hazara Rama Temple is one of the finest examples of a “story carved in stone.” The shrine is dedicated to Lord Rama and is acclaimed for its amazing bas panels & relics that depict the story of Hindu epic Ramayana. Hemkuta Group of Temples: The Hemkuta group of temples is an assortment of beautiful ancient temples, perched atop the Hemkuta Hill in Hampi. The shrines are dedicated to Lord Shiva and highlight one of the best eras of art & culture. Sri Krishna Temple: The famous Krishna Temple in Hampi is renowned for its elegant architecture and exquisite carvings. Dedicated to Lord Balakrishna, the shrine features elaborate stone-carved towers & pillars, and a sacredkund. Vittala Temple: The ancient temple, located near the banks of Tungabhadra River, is an UNSECO World Heritage Site because of its outstanding architecture and supreme craftsmanship. The remnants of the shrine are still standing in full glory, narrating the tales of an erstwhile kingdom. In the afternoon, we will visit the Anegundi Village on a coracle, traversing the azure waters of River Tungabhadra. After an enthralling excursion in & around Hampi, return to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.
Post breakfast, we will drive you back to Hyderabad for your onward journey. En route, stopover at Hospet – the gateway to the ruins of Hampi. The picturesque valleys, rocky hills, colossal boulders and the vivid Tungabhadra River provide you with many picture-perfect shots. We wish you a happy journey.
