The Anshi National Park in Karnataka is believed to be the home of most endangered wildlife species in India. Located in the Western Ghats, this park spreads over an area of 340 sq. km. It is famous for its distinctive fauna as well as its breath taking scenic beauty, which include both deciduous and rain forests.
This national park was carved out of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary in 1987 but in the year 2007, they were declared together as ‘Anshi Dandeli Tiger Reserve’. River Kali that flows through Dandeli wildlife sanctuary integrates the beauty of this national park. It is a home for several animals out of which Black panthers and Bengal tigers are most popular. The park also houses various mammals, reptiles and bird species.
The distinctive characteristic of this park is the trekking camps that are available here with tented accommodations, proper food and guesthouses. The trekking trail leads to the exclusive high altitude grasslands along with your indulgence in the wild life. It is to be noted that for staying in the trekking camp, prior booking and permission is required.
