Authentic Mizoram cuisines can be enjoyed at the rest houses and small stalls present at the nearby locations like Farpak and Sangau. Simple dal and rice, along with vegetable dishes are common. While trekking within the park, one can find stalls offering tea and light snacks.
Shopping
Phawngpui disappoints shopping enthusiasts. There are some small shops at the nearby town of Sangau that sell clothes imported from the neighbouring country of Myanmar. You may find them to be interesting and cheap.
Getting Around
Phawngpui peak is accessible only by trekking from Farpak or Sangau. From Sangau, it is a trekking route of about 20 km. Another alternative is to travel about 14 km. from Sangau to Farpak using a jeep or sumo service and cover the trek of about 7 km. further to conquer the peak. Sangau can be accessed from Aizawl (the state’s capital) via road. Aizawl also has the nearest airport which is about 368 km. away from Phawngpui. Silchar Railway Station in Assam is the nearest railhead at the distance of about 513 km.

Farpak (about 7 km.): Home to beautiful grasslands, the place acts as the base of the trek that leads to Phawngpui peak. It is also home to rare species like clouded leopard, sunbirds, golden throated barbet, bamboo partridge, grey sebia and many more. Sangau (about 20 km.): Another base for those who wish to enjoy a longer trek, the town offers a relaxing atmosphere and some good facilities for the tourists. Saiha (about 32 km.): The place where many elephant teeth were found, Saiha has picturesque beauty and is ideal for activities like trekking, nature walking, angling and fishing. Lake Palak (about 138 km.): Mizoram’s biggest lake in an oval shape, Palak has many ghost stories associated with it. Lunglei (about 174 km.): Tremendous natural beauty of this place enthrals the visitors. There are many picnic spots and tourist places like Kawmzawl Park and Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary.
