Sariska

In the midst of Aravalli Hills, scrubby and arid deciduous forests, steep cliffs and rock-strewn landscape with ruins of historic buildings, Sariska Tiger Reserve attracts flocks of wildlife explorers. The imposing assortment of wildlife at this Northwest India destination includes majestic tiger, leopard, cheetah, wild boar, nilgai, langur, hyena, antelope and jungle cats. It is also the home to peafowl, golden-back woodpeckers, quail, serpent eagles and many other bird species. The Lake of Siliserh on the periphery of the park consists of a great number of crocodiles.

Sariska has endured the testing times and continues to be a popular destination. Apart from wild animals and forest area, Sariska is bordered by numerous places of historical interest, eminent temples, forts, palace and monuments. Historic vistas of Bhangarh, Ajaibgarh and Pratapgarh forts are located in the vicinity. Sariska experiences extremely hot weather in summers, while winters are cool here.

Multitude of items displaying Rajasthani sculpture, art and customs are evident from traditional handicrafts sold in the region. Travellers can shop around for local handicrafts and other items made by local artisans near the reserve forest.

To reach Sariska by air, Jaipur is the nearest airport at around 130 km. from the city. Another international tourist is at Delhi, about 200 km. from Sariska. The nearest railway station is at Alwar, around 57 km. from the town. Sariska Sanctuary is located near Delhi-Alwar-Jaipur Road, at a distance of about 125 km. from Jaipur and around 214 km. from Delhi and is accessible via bus services directly from Delhi and Jaipur. Jeeps are available for safari in the reserve. Private vehicles are not permitted in the Tiger Reserve.

Abhaneri (about 82 km.): The hamlet of Abhaneri is widely popular as the home to a colossal step well, Chand Baori. Bharatpur(about 160 km.): The land of fascinating Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary, the place is frequently visited by bird lovers. Jaipur (About 125 km.): A vibrant historic city and a multifaceted tourist destination in Rajasthan. This thriving city has illustrious monuments, palaces, lakes and forts. Govardhan (About 150 km.): This sanctified place on the hilly terrain of Giriraj Peak is popular for the legends and myths of Lord Krishna. The coveted place gains accolades from all the communities of the Hindu religion.
