Kalesar National Park and Sanctuary

A famous birth-watching destination, Kalesar National Park and Sanctuary is one of the excellent spots for bird lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Habitat to the red jungle fowl, the national park and sanctuary is named after the Kalesar (Shiva) Temple positioned in the foot hills of Shiwalik ranges. Wildlife buffs can enjoy the sights of Sambhar, Chital, Goral, Barking Deer and Nilgai (Blue bull) etc. Rich in flora and fauna, Kalesar National Park and Sanctuary have Khair forest, dense Sal forest and spells of grasslands. The sanctuary houses many endangered animals like 19 Panthers, Monitor Lizard, about 16 male and female leopards, and King Cobra. Occasional views of tigers and elephants in the park amuse visitors to the park. Kalesar Forest is probably the only one in Haryana with a natural ‘sal’ tree belt. The main attraction of the park is its 100-year-old colonial dark bungalow that offers a stunning view of the Yamuna River.
