One of the finest textile museums in the world, Calico Museum of Textiles exhibit what is considered as India’s national heritage. Founded way back in 1949, the museum promises some great opportunities to explore the centuries old textile arts, embroideries and printing techniques.

Apart from the specimen of Indian textiles influenced by the Mughals and other dynasties, there are collections displaying India’s textile trade with many other countries. Techniques like tie-dye, wooden block printing and weaving and amazing embroidery designs from the regions like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Sindh, Odisha, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kathiawad and Kutch are among the highlights of morning tours. Sacred bronzes, manuscripts, sculptures, woodworks and other collections are displayed in the afternoon tours.

Guided tours in the morning and afternoon allow up to 20 and 10 visitors respectively. Handbags, mobile phones and cameras are not allowed. The museum is restricted for children below 10 years.
