Chikmagalur is righteously designated as the coffee capital of Karnataka. Coffee plantations and estates add a fabulous green shade to the region’s natural canvas. Irresistible aroma and limitless expanse of coffee plants encourage the tourists to stay at one of the resorts, cottages or home stays in the region and savour the beauty of lavish coffee cultivation.

Prestigious coffee growing companies like Tata offer guided tours for the tourists to explore different stages of coffee growing and harvesting. Chikmagalur is believed to be the first place in India where coffee plantations were introduced by Baba Budan. Coffee Day, the renowned chain of cafes in India, have their headquarters in the region. Mysore’s distinctive coffee beans are actually grown here.

An added bonus for the visitors is the wonderful opportunity of bird watching. Nature walks and attractions like hill stations, temple towns, waterfalls and wildlife reserves. Trekking is another highlight of the region enjoyed by flocks of adventurers.
