The Lakshmi Narayan temple also known as the Birla Temple is situated at the Arera Hills, the highest point in Bhopal. The temple is dedicated to Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and her husband Vishnu. There is also a separate shrine of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati within the temple complex. The spectacular temple complex is set in a landscaped garden, which makes it a good spot for relaxing and for spiritual contemplation.

The temple is also known as Birla Mandir as it was built by the industrial family of Birlas. The building has an ornate façade and a classic charm. The temple has an imposing turret on one side and well-manicured laws on all other sides. The elaborately carved archway makes one of the most striking features of this temple.

The temple is particularly well known for its architectural brilliance and the beautiful settings, which make it popular not only among pilgrims but also among those who seek a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. As the temple sits high on an elevated plane, it offers panoramic views of the city of Bhopal. The visitors can also visit the Birla museum inside the temple compound, which has an interesting collection of sculptures.
