Corbett jeep safari tour begins as our tour representative meets you at Delhi airport or railway station or any other designated spot. We drive you to Corbett National Park located near the village of Ramnagar in Nainital District of the state of Uttarakhand. On arrival, check in at the pre-booked accommodation and take some rest. In the evening, you are free to enjoy the enchanting natural beauty of the place on your own. Finally, have a comfortable night stay.
Get up early in the morning for the first forest ride of Corbett jeep safari tour. The jeep driver and naturalist-cum-guide would escort you from your accommodation to the zone for which we arrange the entry permit in advance. Feel the excitement as we venture into the deep forest.       There are 6 ecotourism safari zones inside Corbett National Park. Here are their names along with entry points/gates for each:
    • Bijrani Zone – Amdanda Gate
    • Dhikala Zone – Dhangarhi Gate
    • Jhirna Zone – Dhela Gate
    • Sonanadi Zone – Vatanvasa Gate
    • Durgadevi Zone – Durgadevi Gate
    • Dhela Zone – Dhela Gate
  • Day visit permits for jeep safari for each zone (except Dhikala and Sonanadi) can be booked online on official website for Corbett Safari Booking.
  • Day visit permits for Dhikala Zone are available only for canter safari. Only those who book night stay at Dhikala’s forest rest house are allowed day visit via jeep safari in the zone. In other words, no separate day permit for jeep safari is required in the zone if you have night stay booking.
  • Day visit permits for Sonanadi Zone are available at Kotdwar’s visitor reception centre.

Safari Timings At Corbett National Park:

You can enjoy 2 safaris (each being 3-4 hr. long) each day during Corbett jeep safari tour.

Timings that vary during different months are as below:

  • 05:30 a.m. and 03:15 p.m. from May 16 – June 15
  • 06:45 a.m. and 01:00 p.m. from November 15 – February 15
  • 05:15 a.m. and 02:00 p.m. from February 16 – March 31
  • 05:45 a.m. and 03:00 p.m. from April 01 – May 15

Safari Vehicles: No private vehicles are allowed on Corbett jeep safari tour. We will help you hire services of one of the registered jeep (gypsy) providers.

Safari Closed Period:

All zones (except Jhirna) of the park are closed during monsoons (dates may change for each zone). In addition, the park closes on the festival of Holi (March).
Here are the important details regarding the safari opening and closing:

  • Night stays are closed at every zone between June 15 and November 14
  • Day visit to Bijrani Zone are closed between June 30 and October 14
  • Day visit to Dhikala and Sonanadi are closed from June 16 to November 14
  • Jhirna Zone remains open throughout the year, though its accessibility depends on weather conditions
  • June 01-15 is standby period for Dhikala and Sonanadi. It means that visits purely depend on weather conditions and no advance bookings are made.

Night Stay Options For Corbett Jeep Safari Tour:

Apart from the forest rest house at Dhikala, similar accommodations are available at:
  • Gairal, Sarpduli and Sultan in Dhikala Zone
  • Bijrani and Malani in Bijrani Zone

  • Accommodations are in the form of log huts, cabins, single, double and four bedrooms, hutments, annexes etc.

  • The accommodations at Gairal and Dhikala offer canteens. For other forest rest houses, tourists must bring their own ration for cooking.

Accommodation costs are:

  • INR 250-2,500 for Indians
  • INR 500-5,000 for foreigners

 

  • Safari Costs: Various safari costs during Corbett jeep safari tour include:
  • Entry Fee: INR 200/900 per Indian/foreigner for first 3 days and additional INR 100/450 per day per Indian/foreigner. No entry fee for children below 5 years.
  • Day Visit Permit Fee: INR 1,000/1900 for two Indians/foreigners.
  • Jeep Fees: For day visit, it is INR 250/500 for two Indians/foreigners and for night stay, it is INR 500/1,500 for two Indians/foreigners.
  • Camera Fees: No fee for non-commercial camera, INR 500/1,500 for commercial cameras per Indian/foreigner.
  • Number of People per Safari Jeep: Apart from driver and guide, 6 adults and 2 children are allowed per jeep.

Other Useful Travel Tips:

  • Tourists must not take non-vegetarian food, guns, cigarettes, fire/smoke-causing items during Corbett jeep safari tour.
  • It is strictly prohibited to get down from the jeep during safari.
  • Prefer to dress up in dull-colour clothes that gel with the natural environment.
  • Avoid playing any kind of music on your phones. Prefer to keep your phones on silent.
  • Guide is mandatory during safari trip. You need to pay the guide directly (usually costs between INR 500-600).
  • Forest rest houses serve only vegetarian food.
  • Beware of monkeys at these accommodations.

  • Elephant rides are available only in Dhikala and Bijrani. Costs are INR 300/1,000 per Indian/foreigner for two hours (children below 5 years are allowed for free). Only 4 people per elephant are allowed.
  • One entry permit allows safari to a specific zone only.
  • No cancellation/rescheduling is allowed for entry permits.
  • It is advised to book Corbett jeep safari tour in advance as there are limited numbers (30 for each safari at Bijrani and Jhirna, 15 per safari for Durgadevi) of vehicles allowed per zone each day.
