While most devotees and tourists visiting Vrindavan visit famous Shri Bankey Bihari Temple,not everybody knows about the oldest temple of Vrindavan.
Planning to visit Vrindavan ? Remember to visit Madan Mohan Temple,the oldest temple of Vrindavan,built in year 1580 A.D by Ram Das Kapoor,a merchant from Multan
The temple is flanked on one side by the kutir of Sanatan Goswami,seniormost among the
six Goswamis of Vrindavan.Sanatan Goswami was the principle disciple of
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
It is believed that while Ram Das Kapoor was on a business voyage,his boat got struck up in the sand along Yamuna and despite several efforts he was not able to take it out from the sand.He met Sanatan Goswami to whom he narrated his problem.In his mind ,he vowed that soon his boats are freed from the sand,he would built a temple of Madan Mohan.It is said that moment he vowed to built a temple of Madan Mohan,his boats got freed from sand and he made handsome profits from business on that trip.Fulfilling his promise,he got a beautiful temple constructed which is famously called as Madan Mohan Temple of Vrindavan.
