Zanskar

Zanskar is mainly famous for trekking paths and also for various monasteries. Some must visit places at Zanskar include the following:
Drang-Drung Glacier
Drang-Drung Glacier

The Drang-Drung glacier, as one of the famed attractions of Zanskar provides you with the opportunity to assess the picturesque beauty of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. You can get a vibrant look of Kargil and the Himalayas from this glacier. Drang Drung glacier is one of the biggest glaciers in India.

Zanskar River

Zanskar River is the north is the flowing tributary of Indus River. Called as Tsarap Chu by the natives, this river can clam down your sensational urge of river rafting. Along with experiencing true adventure, you can also visit the riverside villages and monasteries.

Khurana River
Khurana River

Originating from the Zanskar ranges, Khurana River is one of the main tributaries of the Zanskar River. It flows through the western Zanskar range before meeting with the Indus in Leh. Along with the smooth gurgling sound of the river, you can enjoy the waterfalls in the side valleys and the alpine landscape.

Pipiting
Pipiting

Pipiting is a village located in the Zanskar range and it features some ancient stupas. You can visit the Pipiting Gompa, where you can see the engraved paintings of Saint Padmasambhava, the founder of Pipiting.

Karsha Gompa
Karsha Gompa

Karsha Gompa, the biggest monastery in Zanskar is known for Karsha Gustor. Karsha Gustor is a typical black hat dance form performed by the Buddhists monks. You can also visit various other adjoining monasteries namely the Purang, Phagspa and Khagsar monasteries. 

Phuktal Monastery
Phuktal Monastery

Constructed in the 12th century, this monastery is home to about 70 monks. This is a holy pilgrimage site for the Buddhist monks. The only mode by which you can reach Phuktal monastery is trekking. 

Panikhar
Panikhar

Located in the Suru valley, Panikhar is another point for sightseeing in Zanskar. You can take a look at the Zorawar Fort, which was built by Zorawar Singh while he entered Ladakh to conquer Tibet.

Penzi La Pass
Penzi La Pass

The Penzi La pass divides the Suru Valley from the Zanskar Valley. Situated at a height of more than 4,200 m, it allows you to get enchanting views of the majestic valleys and the green countryside.
