Tour overview

The Char Dham Yatra by helicopter takes you to the four holy dhams of Uttarakhand in six short days. You begin at Dehradun. Your helicopter then carries you to Yamunotri, to Gangotri, to Kedarnath and to Badrinath. At each dham you get darshan of the Lord. Every night you rest at a good hotel.

This yatra is made for pilgrims who do not have many days to spare. The road journey to all four dhams takes almost twelve days and many hours of hard driving. By helicopter you save that time and that tiredness. You fly over snow peaks and green valleys. You reach each temple fresh and ready for darshan.

We take special care of senior citizens. Our ground team meets you at every helipad. They walk with you and help you at each dham. You are never left alone on this holy journey.

Char Dham Yatra by helicopter from Dehradun is made for pilgrims who do not have ten to twelve free days, or who cannot take the hard road journey to all four dhams. In six days your helicopter carries you to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, and brings you back to Dehradun. You get darshan at each dham and rest at a good hotel every night.

On the first night you stay at Hotel Hyatt Regency in Dehradun. You fly over the high peaks of the Himalayas and see them from close. You get a special darshan at Kedarnath and the Mahabhishek Puja at Badrinath, and you join the Sandhya Aarti at the Badrinath temple. Our ground team meets you at every helipad and every temple, and looks after senior citizens with extra care.

You can hold your seat for 10,000 rupees for each person. This amount is fully refundable if we are not able to secure your seat. The route may change a little with the weather, as all helicopter flying depends on clear skies in the high hills.

A carefully paced plan, day by day. Tap any day for the stay, meals and altitude detail.

Today you reach Dehradun. Our team picks you up at the Dehradun airport or the railway station and takes you to Hotel Hyatt Regency, a five star hotel set among the Malsi forest and the hills near Mussoorie. You can rest or see the local sights on your own. In the evening our team meets you at 7:30 pm in the hotel lobby and briefs you about the yatra. Please remember that you can carry only 5 kg of luggage for each person in the helicopter. We give you a small duffle bag for this.

Today your flying begins early. Please leave your hotel by 5 am. Your helicopter lands at Kharsali near Yamunotri, a small hill village at 8,500 feet. A palki carried by four porters takes you up to the Yamunotri temple. The trip up takes about three hours and the return about two hours, and our guide walks with you for darshan. In the evening you may visit the old Shani temple close by, which local people believe is one of the oldest Shani temples in the world. Tonight you rest at a simple and clean hotel in Kharsali.

Today your helicopter takes you towards Harsil for Gangotri darshan. Harsil is a quiet hill hamlet at 8,500 feet, set among apple orchards and pine trees by the Bhagirathi river. The temple is about 22 km away and the drive takes nearly one hour, with a short walk of about 400 meters at Gangotri. Our guide walks with you for darshan. Tonight you stay at a small hill resort at Harsil, with the snow peaks right in front of you.

Today your helicopter takes you towards Kedarnath. Because of heavy helicopter traffic, you may change to a shuttle helicopter at the Sersi helipad. You land at Sersi in the Kedar valley and check in at your hotel. Then you go up to the Kedarnath temple, about 500 meters away, at 11,500 feet, so please walk slowly. We arrange a special darshan for you. In the afternoon our team can take you to the old Triyuginarayan temple, about 18 km away, where Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are believed to have married. Tonight you rest at a good resort near Sersi.

Today your helicopter takes you towards Badrinath. Soon after take off you get a close view of the mighty Chaukhamba peak, and if the sky is clear you may also see the Nanda Devi peak near Joshimath. Badrinath sits at 10,000 feet, between the Nar and Narayan hills, by the Alaknanda river. After you land, our team takes you to Hotel Sarovar Portico. Later you visit Mana village, about 3 km away, where Maharishi Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata in the Vyas cave. In the evening you join the Sandhya Aarti at the Badrinath temple.

Today you rise very early for the Mahabhishek Puja at the Badrinath temple. This puja starts at 4 am and only fifty to sixty people can sit inside the temple for it, so it is a very rare sight. After the puja you have breakfast and get ready to fly. Your helicopter then takes you to Dehradun and lands at about 12:45 pm, and our team drops you at the Dehradun airport or the railway station. Please book your return flight or train after 5:30 pm, because weather can delay your return to Dehradun.

  • Ideal time to book your Char Dham Yatra By Helicopter is between 15th May to 10th June & thereafter between 20th September till the temples close for winters.

  • Taking a pony / palki at Kharsali is highly recommended as the climb from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri is quite steep.

  • Weather generally becomes bad after about 12 pm each day, hence it is recommended that Yatris get up early each day and board helicopter well within time for next destination.

  • Yatris must take windcheater or rain coats as weather being most unpredictable, it mat start raining within no time.

  • Wear proper footwear that has grip as the paths are undulating and slippery also.

  • Take adequate winter clothing.

  • You may take some dry fruits and candies that would keep the energy levels high.

  • Take camphour in small quantity along as it aids in breathing should there be any problems in breathing owing to high altitude area.
