Ranakpur Jain Temple – A Fantasy Engraved on Marble

Glorious Marble Temple
Dedicated to the first tirthankara (Jain facilitator) Adinatha (also known as Rishabha), the temple enjoys eye-pleasing backdrops of Aravalli Hills. Its seclusion from urban life perfectly matches its superlative architecture which can keep anyone spellbound for hours. The use of light-colour marble and finely elaborated carvings makes it a visual treat.

Built way back in the 15th century, this marvellous structure displays many interesting elements of Jain architecture. Turrets, cupolas, domes, sculptures and brackets are some of them. Popularly called Chaumukha (four-faced) Temple, it boasts of more than 1,444 distinctively carved pillars.

Location and Other Attractions
Located in the Pali District and on the way to Udaipur, the temple is easily accessible by road. There are many other beautiful temples that along with the main temple form Ranakpur Temple Complex. Parsvanath Temple, Neminath Temple and Surya (Sun) Temple are worth exploring as well.
