Nature’ Exquisite Charm
Tarkarli Beach with its soft white sand and rows of suru trees is an unspoiled heaven for nature lovers. Historical Footprints
The village has a marvellous fort, called Sindhugarh, in its close vicinity. Located on the island named Kurte, the fort was constructed by the great Maratha warrior Shivaji in the 17th century. Portuguese architects were hired for the construction which utilized 4,000 mounds of iron and lasted only for 3 years. With its massive walls and ramparts and numerous bastions, the fort is definitely a must-visit hotspot in the region.
 
Wildlife Exploration
Malvan Marine Sanctuary is a big draw for the wildlife lovers. Immensely rich in marine wealth, the sanctuary boasts of oysters, corals, molluscs and different species of fish. Female turtles and dolphins are also sighted. The place is also home to the terrestrial fauna, including sambar, barking deer, nilgai, wild boar and leopard. Avifauna, including plovers, egrets, ducks and seagulls, add to the biodiversity which also boasts of mangroves and other vegetations.
