Corbett National Park – Experience the Thrill in Chilly Weather
 
When the entire North India shiver under extreme cold, the presence of something as valiant and as majestic as royal Bengal tigers maintain the liveliness of Corbett National Park. Mainland Asia’s first protected forest area; it was once infamous for the man-eating tigers. Jim Corbett, the eminent author, naturalist and hunter, rescued the region from the terror and the foundation for India’s oldest national park was laid. The park also boasts of rich avi fauna with species like darters, parakeets,herons, egrets, bitterns and many more.

Visitors’ Information

  • Location: Districts Pauri and Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal) with headquarters at Ramnagar.
  • How to Reach: The park has good road connectivity with many popular cities including Delhi. Ramnagar has the closest railway station while the nearest airport is at Pantnagar.
  • Entry to Park: Permits can be obtained at the park’s gates to enter one of the five tourist zones of Corbett. Private vehicles as well as vehicles on rent (jeeps and canters) and elephants are allowed for safari. Fees must be paid for entry, vehicle entry and cameras.
  • Accommodations: Rest houses, jungle lodges, huntsmen and hotel. Prefer to book in advance.
