Domestic Air Carriers in India Announce Advance Booking Discount War

While everything is ‘fair’ in love and war, airlines in India imply the mantra to the ‘fare’ war. Beginning earlier this year, top carriers like SpiceJet and IndiGo have turned easy to slash down the airfares in a number of ways. Industry experts hold two primary reasons responsible for this behaviour – the significant drop in air travel plans (the culprit being a slow economy) and the grand entry of Air Asia to the scene.

Air Asia, even before its operation starts in the country, has already announced airfares cheaper by 35% than the current prices. As expected, the current big players like SpiceJet is not at all willing to give away a huge pie of market share to the new competitor. The budget airline has announced up to 25% discount on group air travels. The winners are definitely the consumers who can now accompany their friends and family to take advantage of these lucrative offers.

The domestic carriers have further stimulatedthe competition by offering discounts on advance air ticket booking. At thesame time, they have increased the prices for on-the-spot ticket booking, clearly leading to a rise in online and advance reservations. If the reputedonline tour operators are to be believed, the advance ticket reservations haveincreased 7-8 times. In a nutshell, the competition is helping everyone, fromtravellers to tour planners and airline companies as well.

With AirAsia almost geared up to launch itsoperations, one can expect the existing airlines to follow new tricks and addto the price war.

It is easy to forecast a brighter future forthe Indian tourism industry, which is relentlessly taking new leaps to matchthe global tourism standards. The country’s attractions and itineraries arebeing intensely publicized on various important platforms and media channels. Mostimportantly, the tour operators are succeeding to deliver what they promise. Fora memorable travel experience in India, we wish you keep glued toour updates and travel stories.
