Meet the Camera-friendly Tigers at Bandhavgarh

Bandhavgarh National Park is among the most famed Tiger Reserves in India, thanks to its royal Bengal tigers which regularly starred in international wildlife documentaries. The park opens its gates for the visitors around this post monsoons season when the weather is extremely pleasant and the park’s panorama is at full glory.

Bandhavgarh Highlights
Tiger is definitely the top priority for the park visitors, though Bandhavgarh is a treasure trove of other wild lives like sloth bear, leopard, spotted deer, striped hyena, Indian bison and more. Bird-watchers can have gala time exploring wonderful species of parakeets, barbets, hornbills, egrets, eagles, kingfishers, storks and doves. Bandhavgarh Fort is a majestic structure located within the park.

Tiger Safari Options
Jeep safari is the best way to spot tigers roaming valiantly in the park:

  • Timings: 06:00-10:00 a.m. and 04:00- 06:30 p.m. in summers. 07:30-10:30 a.m. and 03:00-05:30 p.m. in winters.
  • Closed on: Wednesday evening
  • Safari Fees: INR 2,000 and INR 4,000 per jeep respectively for the Indian and foreign tourists.

Elephant safari is another exciting option that can be enjoyed by paying INR 60 (for Indians) or INR 400 (for foreigners).

Useful Travel Information

  • Access: Tala is the main entry gate which is easily accessible by road. The closest railhead is at Umaria, while the nearby airports are at Khajuraho and Jabalpur.
  • Accommodations: Budget rooms, lodges and resorts are available near Tala and other gates of the park.
  • Permission: Must be obtained from the park’s field director.
