More than 150 species of birds find permanent home at the sanctuary. As the winters arrive, many exotic birds migrating from across the world add to the population. Blue-head rock-thrush, red-breast flycatcher, black-head cuckoo shrike, ashy minivet, Malabar trogon, three toed kingfisher and many other birds can be best sighted during November. If you are an enthusiastic bird-watcher, this is going to be a mind-blowing tryst for you. One may also come across wild animals like four-horn antelope and wild boar.  
 
Trekking Adventure

The centuries-old Karnala Fort perched atop a hill attracts avid trekkers via two routes – one for the first-timers and second for the experts. Apart from savouring the beauty all through the trek, you will be left speechless what you get to admire from the top.
 
How to Reach?
The sanctuary is only about 60 km. from Mumbai which also hosts the closest airport while the nearest railhead is at Panvel, only about 13 km. away. Accommodations are available at Panvel.
 
Useful Tips
·  Carry a lot of drinking water
·  Beware of honeycombs (very huge)
·  Prefer to travel in groups
·  Avoid staying after sunset
·  Fees include INR 30 (adults), INR 15 (children), INR 100 (camera), INR 150 (video camera) and INR 15/50 (parking for two/four wheeler)
