Waterfall Rappelling at Vihigao, Maharashtra

Bid adieu to your fear of height, while enjoying a fabulous adventure holiday. Located in Maharashtra’s Thane District is one of the best-kept secrets of Western Ghats called Vihigaon Waterfall. Falling from the height of about 120 feet, the vociferous waters of the fall are fast attracting the adventure seekers. A new kind of adventure sport called canyoneering can be experienced in its most thrilling form at the waterfall.

Rappelling down the cliff from which the fall descends can intensify your adrenaline rush. Feel the thrill as the forceful water hits your face and you play a high-voltage dramatic game with the nature. A wonderful exercise to gain confidence and to feel like a big achiever!

Location
The journey to the waterfall begins from Kasara which is located on National Highway 3 connecting Mumbai with Nashik. Trains operate to and from Kasara station and the nearest international airport is at Mumbai (about 105 km. away). About 25 km. from Kasara in Thane, the waterfall is located on Kasara-Jawhar road amidst beautiful natural settings and lush greenery. Camping is possible in the area for an even more exhilarating experience.

Preparations
The first step would be to find an adventure expert (a trekking, rappelling or rock climbing expert) to assist you in the adventure. Remember that the adventure is not meant for inexperienced tourists without proper guidance and assistance. There are many adventure groups that have started offering adventure assistance to the tourists visiting the waterfall.

You are required to wear comfortable clothes (t-shirt and track pants or shorts), rain gear, flash lights, packed food, bottled water and mosquito repellent.
